Dominic J. Buttitta, Jr. is an experienced prosecutor and defense attorney with extensive litigation experience who is qualified and ready to serve as judge.
Buttitta’s legal career began when he served at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Criminal Appeals Division, before continuing his prosecutorial career at the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, focusing on traffic, misdemeanor and felony trials, white collar crime, and specialty courts, including Veterans, Mental Health, and Drug Court. As a prosecutor, he earned a reputation as someone who was tough on crime, holding criminals accountable for their actions, especially violent and domestic offenders.
In 2013, Buttitta founded Buttitta Law Group, which is a full-service litigation firm. As the managing attorney for both the firm’s criminal and civil litigation divisions, Buttitta is in court every single day arguing motions, appearing before judges and juries, and settling and trying cases. As a litigator, he has argued countless evidentiary hearings and tried well over 100 cases to verdict before a judge or jury—being recognized yearly as an Illinois Super Lawyer and National Top 100 Trial Attorney.
As a defense attorney, Buttitta ensures his clients’ constitutional rights are protected and ensures all the facts are presented so a judge can make a fair ruling. As a domestic relations and civil litigation attorney, Buttitta actively represents clients on matters related to divorce and family law, commercial litigation, estate planning, real estate, foreclosure defense, and business formation.
