Buttitta’s legal career began when he served at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Criminal Appeals Division, before continuing his prosecutorial career at the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, focusing on traffic, misdemeanor and felony trials, white collar crime, and specialty courts, including Veterans, Mental Health, and Drug Court. As a litigator, he has argued countless evidentiary hearings and tried well over 100 cases to verdict before a judge or jury—being recognized yearly as an Illinois Super Lawyer and National Top 100 Trial Attorney.

As a defense attorney, Buttitta ensures his clients’ constitutional rights are protected and ensures all the facts are presented so a judge can make a fair ruling. His litigation experience has uniquely equipped him to understand the procedural intricacies involved in both prosecuting and defending criminal matters, as well as litigating civil matters from both sides of the aisle. His passion drives him to always continue learning to maintain his reputation as a true legal scholar in the legal profession.

I love practicing law. As a constitutional originalist, I believe the Constitution should be interpreted exactly as the framers intended. My passion drives me to always continue learning, and I strive to become a legal scholar.
